The University of Florida

I've finally arrived at UF (pronounced "Oof"), and I feel obligated to share the details of my first few experiences at this strange place.

First of all, I must note that the mean age at this place is...quite low. I haven't seen one old person yet...Ok, maybe one, but she was my mom, so that doesn't really count, does it? But yeah...I'm staying in Hume, which, in case you didn't know, is the Honors dorm at the college, and I must say that I feel severely out-nerded. I was used to being the big fish in a little pond at PHS (or maybe "the smart fish in a stupid pond" would be more appropriate - the population at PHS wasn't low, but the average IQ was), but here, I'm surrounded by people that are smarter than me. Many people that are smarter than me. Fortunately my suitemates (They're pretty "sweet" - lololololollaliolaoiloeic <chokes from lololing>) are pretty cool. Not overly nerdy, about my style. All of them are very similar to me in most ways. They play games and know a good bit about puters, which is nice. I don't feel like I'm too much nerdier than them in that regard. At any rate, I feel that it's about time to end this paragraph. So I'm going to end it. Right after this sentence. In fact, right after this wor-

I didn't even get to finish that word. It was simply making the paragraph too long. Moving on...

What else should I share? Uhm...my roomate hasn't arrived yet, so I've had the room all to myself for that past day, which has been nice. Maybe I can escape before he gets here so I don't have to help him unload (sorry Jimmy ;)). I'm actually a bit surprised that he hasn't arrived yet. It's 12:51 and the clock is still ticking. He's probably at least on his way if nothing else.

This morning I woke up at about 9 and ran around a bit. I tried to see if I would be able to make a class that was really far from the one right before it. I didn't have a watch, but it was pretty hard to make in 15 minutes. I know it took at least that. I guess I'll see during this first week. It's drop/add, so I can change classes if I have to, but I don't really want to deal with the hassle.

I've tried eating the food here, and it's really good. They say that it gets repetitive though, so hopefully I don't get sick of it too quickly. If it's not the same thing over and over again, then it won't be too bad, because it was really good last night. I've got 14 meals to eat each week, so hopefully they'll be enjoyable meals. I'll keep you posted with some satire if it gets bad.

So, anyhoo...I'm really excited. I really like the place I'm staying in. I won't mind studying here at all. I've met a good few people, but I can see why sites such as facebook are important. Most of them live in random places, so it would be hard to keep up with a lot of them without some sort of social networking site. I like facebook much more than myspace, and it's a lot more organized, so hopefully it'll help me keep up with people I meet a little better. I'm looking forward to life at UF! It's gonna rock!
